Astaka Kota Selera

Aataka Kota Selera is a vibrant culinary destination in Penang, designed to redefine the traditional food court experience through a modern, elevated lens. Designed by AOHA, the interior reflects a strategic harmony between Penang’s rich food heritage and the demands of a high-energy commercial space. The design moves beyond basic utility, focusing on spatial rhythm, textural depth, and communal comfort—ensuring that every meal feels like a curated event rather than a quick stop.

Understanding the complexity of high-traffic F&B environments, AOHA approached this commercial interior design project with a focus on "Atmospheric Efficiency." The goal was to create a space that maximizes seating capacity and vendor visibility without compromising on the sensory quality of the dining environment. The result is a food hall that feels bustling yet organized, and rustic yet sophisticated.

Design Highlights & Strategic Features

  • Intelligent Traffic Zoning: Expertly planned circulation paths that manage heavy peak-hour crowds while keeping vendor queues and dining areas distinct.

  • Modern-Industrial Materiality: A robust selection of durable, easy-to-clean materials—such as polished concrete, steel accents, and warm timber—built to withstand high-frequency use.

  • Bespoke Communal Seating: Custom-designed furniture layouts that cater to both intimate groups and large social gatherings, optimizing floor space and ergonomics.

  • Strategic Ventilation & Lighting: An open-concept ceiling design that ensures optimal air airflow and heat dissipation, paired with warm-toned lighting to enhance food presentation.

  • Unified Vendor Identity: A cohesive signage and stall-front design framework that gives the space a professional, branded look while allowing individual food concepts to shine.

  • Acoustic Management: Integration of spatial textures and ceiling treatments to dampen noise levels, creating a comfortable environment for conversation.

Aataka Kota Selera stands as a premier example of how F&B and food court interior design in Penang can bridge the gap between heritage and modernity. By prioritizing both operator efficiency and the guest experience, AOHA has crafted a destination that drives footfall and celebrates the local food culture.
